Love the software. Although have not upgraded from very old version. Is there anyway to remove the review tags. And replace with irrelevant comments as these are intended for the programmers and not prospective users? Thanks.
I think LR is a good product but not a great product. When it comes to managing images I will be voting for Aperture. The interface is so much better and it's an app. Photoshop less than 10. I don’t do any post processing work I just retouch. I used Kornelius, now reverting back to a basic Canon 7D and a basic Lightroom.
I currently use Aperture 4.503. I have a Photoshop for under the hood editing. All my editing is done in LR 4.0.2. I do have some templates that I use but mostly “facts” to go on. I would never use LR for “facts” as that seems to be one of the reasons why I have started using batch which is too much like Lightroom. Aperture has come a long way from the first version and I am glad it is still in production. I understand that not every one has the desires to have the best for the most buck. LR is the way I go, but does not work for me. I was told I should do some “training” but my sales person and the company that is hosting my catalog cannot support me if I need anything more than what they say I can do with LR and my “training.” They cannot support me for the customization that I really need.
This software has been designed with the photographer in mind. That's it's main purpose. I have over 80000 images and there is a non stop scan of all images. Then this only showing me a non stop backlog of images that need a little bit of touch up but that doesn't mean it's a good or a bad thing. But in all, I feel it's still dedicated to the general user.
Thanks for the review of some alternatives but until they support catalogs and can do managed exports they will not replace lightroom. Luminar is close but I find it a pain when it scans the entire hard drive for all images not just targeted images based on a catalog and only specific files in targeted directores. I have many images and find luminar goes in to hole trying to read every thing every time I run it. d2c66b5586
